There is no such thing as soft drugs

Any drug affects the brain and changes consciousness. Marijuana is no exception.

Effect on human body

Marijuana (officially – cannabis, hashish) is a psychoactive substance (cannabinoid) extracted from dried cannabis leaves and buds.

Marijuana use is most popular among young people. The desire to assert oneself, to experience unusual sensations and banal interest “put” weed in a person’s hand.

Marijuana affects the human brain and tissues of various glands. Cannabinoids especially accumulate in brain tissues and cause impaired coordination of movement, affect memory and consciousness in general, cause euphoria, subtle senses, color and sound perception. These obsessive states further become a problem in the treatment of smoking weed.

Methods of use

There are several ways to use marijuana, depending on the type of cannabis processing:

  • smoking crushed pieces of weed;
  • inhaling steam using a special device for the evaporation of psychoactive substances from dry weed;
  • chewing hashish;
  • eating foods with the addition of weed and its derivatives.

The clinic develops treatment management for smoking marijuana based on its method of use.

Signs of marijuana addiction

At the initial stage of smoking weed, the signs may be undistinguished and quite similar to mild intoxication. However, once a specific smell of weed or unusual behavior is noticed, it is a reason to consult with a specialist in narcology. Doctors strongly recommend being attentive to people at risk.

Here are some signs of using weed and its derivatives that worth attention:

changes in behavior:

  • unreasonable excitement;
  • mental imbalance;
  • insomnia;
  • distorted perception of time and space;
  • irritation;

physical changes:

  • unreasonable smile and fits of laughter;
  • bloodshot eyes, swollen eyelids;
  • dry mouth;
  • increased appetite;
  • hyperhidrosis;
  • high blood pressure;
  • rapid pulse;
  • the smell of burnt weed from the body and breath;
  • dizziness and headache;
  • blackouts, hallucinations, delusions;
  • mental disorders;
  • impaired coordination of movement;
  • heart problems, etc.

social changes:

  • change of social environment;
  • conflicts in the family;
  • problems at school, work;

criminal changes:

  • property theft;
  • car theft;
  • robberies.

In case of any suspicions, do not hesitate to contact a narcologist. Our specialists will dispel your concerns or facilitate and help the patient to give up smoking weed.

Negative effects and consequences

Smoking cannabis affects primarily the respiratory and circulatory systems.

Inhaling high temperature carcinogens can cause chronic diseases and even cancer of the mouth, bronchi, and lungs. Narcotic substances are absorbed into the bloodstream and enter every human organ, causing malfunctions and complications. Here are just some of the effects of smoking marijuana:

  • brain – cell death, disorders of the speech centers, memory, consciousness;
  • cardiovascular system – heart palpitations, high blood pressure, changes in the structure of the heart muscle;
  • psyche – panic attacks, development of addictions, schizophrenia, psychosis, delusions, hallucinations;
  • reproductive system – infertility, hormonal changes.

Marijuana has been scientifically proven to have an extremely negative effect on the fetus: it inhibits the fetal development, negatively affects the reproductive function in boys, interferes with the formation of the nervous system, vision and healthy psyche of the fetus. A child can become a drug addict involuntarily with his/her drug addicted mother’s milk.

The consequences of smoking weed are dangerous not only by direct complications on the body, but also by growing psychological dependence. The elusive state of “high” forces to increase the dose and take up harder drugs (opiates, barbiturates, psychedelics, etc.).

Things to know about depression

The medical term “depression” has become one of the most commonly used characteristics of human mood. Only a doctor can mark out ordinary fatigue from symptoms of depression. The task of our clinic is to diagnose and begin treatment of depression as quickly as possible, to teach the patient to control his condition and reach sustainable results.

Definition

Depression is a systemic mental disorder caused by prolonged depressed state with partial or complete loss of interest in one’s own or the surrounding life.

The most dangerous characteristics of the disease is that anyone can become a patient.

Signs and symptoms

Depression is accompanied by both mental and physiological symptoms. Its symptoms are categorized as follows:

  • Emotional (depressed state, longing, apathy, loss of self-esteem and confidence, guilt, suffering, low self-esteem).
  •  Physiological (hyperexcitability, lethargy, fatigue, decreased sex drive, sleep disturbances, decreased/increased appetite, chronic pain, gastrointestinal dysfunction, hormonal disorders, dizziness).
  •  Cerebral (decrease or loss of ability to concentrate and make decisions, thoughts of death and suicide, fatalism).
  •  Communicative (anxiety, irritability, loss of interest in processes that give positive emotions, isolation, conflict, addiction to alcohol and psychotropic substances).

Provocative factors

The causes of depression are usually a combination of various factors (psychological, physiological, social). An important role is played by heredity, human psychotype, stress resistance, diseases associated with the functioning of the brain, thyroid gland, blood circulation, etc.

Sometimes it can be the physiological state of the patient (tumors, stroke, menopause, dementia) and the side effects of drugs used in the treatment of diseases.

Types of depression

Depression differs by types, but has similar symptoms and signs (differ in the duration and intensity of manifestation). However, all types have their own, specialized courses of treatment.

  • A depressive episode is the most common type of depression (lasts from 2 weeks to a year, a single episode is unipolar disorder). It manifests itself in the form of undue fatigability, decreased performance. If untreated, then reversion is possible.
  • A recurrent depressive disorder – clinical/classic depression (lasts from several months to several years). The phase of depression alternates with a phase of the normal state. The disorder occurs in childhood/adolescence and requires treatment (risk of various pathologies).
  • Dysthymia – chronic depression (lasts from several years to decades), with moderate symptoms and long phases of the disease. Risk of aggravation.
  •  Bipolar type I depression (manic-depressive psychosis) – phases of depression and normal state, complemented by a manic phase (overexcitation, sleep disturbances, problems with critical thinking). Dangerous with the consequences of rash and impulsive actions leading to the next phase of depression.
  •  Bipolar type II depression is similar to recurrent depressive disorder. The manic phase is more emotionally restrained and thus causes the illusion of healing.
  •  A depressive psychotic episode – psychotic/delusional depression – a state of psychosis with visual and auditory hallucinations, various types of delusions. The patient urgently needs inpatient treatment.
  •  Atypical depression – a type of depression (mild or bipolar) manifested by panic attacks, expressiveness, mood swings, sleep disturbances, overeating.
  •  Postpartum depression – a type of depression (lasts from 2 weeks or more) caused by increased physical, emotional stress on the body and hormonal factors. Dangerous with an increased risk of suicide and infanticide.

Diagnostics – a professional’s task

Depression treatment begins with visiting a qualified psychotherapist. Using various tests and screenings, our specialists diagnose the causes, stages of the disease, pathology, and offer an individual course of therapy.

Treatment options for depression

Free initial consultation – a conversation with the patient and/or his relatives. The professional identifies key problems and offers solutions: we choose a treatment regimen and discuss its timing in our center. In case any concomitant diseases or dysfunctions are identified, the treatment plan can be revised and supplemented.

Primary treatment for depression is psychotherapy (including hypnotic techniques), ibogaine therapy, pharmacological therapy. Combination treatment ensures maximum results.

Supportive therapy (outpatient stage) – active one-year follow-up. Monthly personal and remote consultations. Monitoring of the condition after complete recovery.

The treatment regimen depends on age, gender, general health, social environment, degree and type of depression.

Gambling addiction

The fact that a person loves to play has been known since the time of the Pyramids. However, progress dictates us new conditions of existence. Now the problem of gambling addiction is considered as a disease and should be treated. Our clinic takes on the treatment of gambling addiction with the same high degree of responsibility as drug addiction and alcoholism, not considering this addiction to be something easy and harmless.

What is it?

Gambling addiction is a pathological attraction to games caused by psychological and emotional addiction.

A gamer is a person who does not control the degree of involvement in the game and who needs not only psychological, but also medication treatment.

Why and how do they get hooked on the game?

The emergence of gambling addiction may be due to factors of a psychological, physiological or social nature. Such as:

  • Mental disorders and disorders, phobias.
  • Closure, lack of communication.
  • Financial difficulties.
  • Creative, impulsive natures.

You can get involved in the game in just a couple of weeks. Gaming corporations aim to “add” a person by demonstrating his exclusivity and good luck. Vivid visualization, a system of bonuses and rewards stimulate the production of dopamine – the hormone of happiness, and the anticipation of victory and gain – adrenaline – a kind of drug. And it is for them that the player “hunts” in the literal and figurative sense, not realizing that he is turning his life and the lives of his loved ones into a tragedy.

It is important not to miss the moment of being drawn into gambling addiction – to be on your guard and to yourself to the people around you who are at risk. In case of doubts and suspicions, it is necessary to contact a clinic for gambling addicts for help.

Types and stages of gambling addiction

There are different types of games:

  • Casino (roulette, cards, slot machines).
  • Computer games (consoles, online games).
  • Games of fast turnover of funds (bets, sweepstakes, lotteries).
  • Games in the securities markets (stock exchanges, forex).

It is worth noting that the variety of game options is aimed at maximizing the coverage of the age category (from children to old people) and involving both sexes in gambling addiction.

Gambling addiction is distinguished by the following stages:

  • Stage 1 (level of wins) – the game is irregular, situational, and entertaining.
  • Stage 2 (stage of losses) – the game takes place regularly, prevailing over the main interests of life, the player gradually moves away from real life, excitement replaces all other emotions for the player.
  • Stage 3 (the stage of despair) – the game takes place constantly, replacing the surrounding reality with a virtual one, communication with society can be minimal or playful (with the same Internet-addicted gamblers). At this stage of the disease, the basic functions of the psyche are disrupted – the game is perceived as a drug, and in its absence, symptoms appear in the form of “withdrawal”, psychosis, panic attacks, depression.
  • Stage 4 (the stage of hopelessness) – psychological, physiological and psychological degradation of the personality, sometimes leading to suicide, against this background, alcohol or drug addiction may occur.

You can start treatment at any stage, but it is important to note that early treatment speeds up the healing process.

How to recognize?

Symptoms of gambling addiction in the early stages are practically invisible and the task of loved ones is not to miss the moment. After all, when a person breaks his arm, he does not put himself in a cast, he goes to the doctor. So here too – a broken psyche – is the specialization of our center.

Gambling addiction symptoms:

  • Regular with a bias towards continuous presence in the playing area.
  • Loss of contact with others (especially with those who voice the problem of gambling addiction).
  • Loss of feeling of the reality of the surrounding world.
  • Physiological changes.
  • The tendency to take unnecessary risks in gambling.
  • Emotional / psycho-emotional instability.
  • Growing financial needs are solved, sometimes, in a criminal way.

Consequences of gambling addiction

With gambling addiction, the psyche suffers first of all – detachment, depression, psychosis, anxiety, over-excitability, uncontrolled aggression, panic attacks, etc.

As a result, a person begins to experience physiological changes in the body – redness and dryness of the mucous membranes of the eyes, gastrointestinal diseases, disruptions in the hormonal and cardiovascular systems, general exhaustion, diseases of the musculoskeletal system, memory impairment, sleep disturbance, etc.

Loss of life guidelines and goals is another consequence of gambling addiction. The whole life of a person is reduced to a game and there is no place in it for family, friends, work / study.

What to do? Can gambling addiction be cured?

It is possible and necessary. Come to our clinic MedicoMente.

Gambling addiction is not a sentence and our specialists will do everything to return a person to a full life.

The therapy is based on an individual approach to each patient and takes place in several stages:

  • Motivation is the main direction in solving the problem of effective treatment. Our psychotherapists successfully solve the problem “From arguments to the need for a cure.” If necessary, psychological counseling can be provided to the patient’s immediate environment.
  • Drug therapy – cleansing the body and restoring the affected systems and organs for further treatment.
  • Psychotherapy (including hypnotic techniques) accompanies the patient throughout the treatment and continues on an outpatient basis.
  • Ibogaine therapy – treatment of mental addiction to gambling addiction at the subconscious level.

Alcoholism

Drinking alcohol accompanies a person almost all his life. But the borderline between use and abuse is visible primarily to the doctor. How to get rid of alcoholism? Clinic MedicoMente takes on the task of identifying and getting rid of alcohol addiction.

What is alcoholism?

Alcoholism (alcohol dependence syndrome) is a severe mental chronic illness (a type of substance abuse) characterized by an addiction to the use of alcohol-containing substances.

An alcoholic is a patient who is unable to control alcohol consumption and who needs urgent and effective help from doctors.

Causes and factors

The emergence of alcohol dependence may be due to factors of a psychological, physiological or social nature. Such as:

  • Environment.
  • Depression, stress.
  • Heredity.
  • Availability and popularity of alcohol.
  • Suggestibility.

What is known about the stages and how to determine them

It is customary to distinguish alcohol dependence according to the following stages of alcohol consumption:

Stage 0 (zero): situational or accidental drinking of small amounts of alcohol without physiological or physical dependence, but mild psychological dependence. As a rule, a person loses or has no interest in drinking alcohol in the future. The stage is dangerous, under certain conditions, the loss of control over the use and the transition to the next stage of addiction.

Stage 1: mental dependence on alcohol. Characteristic features: an obsessive desire to drink alcohol, planning and expectation of drinking, switching to large doses, loss of body reactivity (nausea) to an excess of alcohol.

Stage 2: physical and mental dependence on alcohol. Characteristic features: the inability to stop drinking alcohol due to hormonal disorders, hangover syndrome and its elimination with a dose of alcohol, hard drinking, alcoholic psychosis.

Stage 3: physiological changes – extreme dependence. Characteristic features: a decrease or lack of resistance to alcohol, indiscriminate use of alcohol, maximum physical dependence, and psychosomatic disorders – personality degradation, irreversible damage to the central nervous system, brain, gastrointestinal tract, circulatory system and other organs, leading to death.

Treatment for alcoholism can be started at any of these stages, but it is easier to achieve results in the early stages.
Symptoms that you should pay attention to: large and growing volumes of alcohol consumed, hangover and, as a result, nausea, increased blood pressure, tremors of the limbs, aggression, depression, binge drinking, memory loss.

What we know about the types of alcohol addiction

Depending on the amount, regularity and behavioral response, experts distinguish the following types of alcoholism:

  • Beer alcoholism – regular consumption of beer and beer drinks in the amount of more than 1 liter per day. It is generally accepted that since beer is a low-alcohol drink, then it does not carry great danger. However, this is an alcohol-containing drink and, at large doses, gives rise to addiction, the transition to stronger drinks, and then dependence.
  • Chronic alcoholism – regular use of alcoholic beverages of various strengths to the point of intoxication. Constant hangover and the need to “improve” health lead to an increase in doses and strength of the consumed.
  • Drunken alcoholism – continuous continuous use of large portions of alcohol. Prolonged binges without the specialized help of doctors leads to death.
  • Female alcoholism is a form of alcoholism that is difficult to treat, dangerous in terms of the rate of addiction and the consequences.
  • Childhood alcoholism is a severe type of alcohol dependence that has a destructive effect on the growing body due to the easy digestibility of alcohol-containing substances.
  • Secret alcoholism – a type of addiction, as a rule, of famous people or people who avoid publicity. Regular consumption of alcoholic beverages can be noticed by the changed appearance and lifestyle of a person. This happens, as a rule, already in the severe stages of the disease and requires the help of narcologists, psychotherapists and rehabilitation in a hospital setting.

What methods does our clinic offer in the treatment of alcoholism

The purpose of our center is to return a person to sobriety and a healthy lifestyle as quickly as possible. We achieve this using a comprehensive treatment of alcoholism in a hospital.

The main prerequisite for successful treatment for addiction is the patient’s own desire, internal motivation. Relatives, inner circle and doctors can only help those who want to get rid of addiction, the desire to do it for him will not give results.

We start getting rid of alcohol addiction with a free initial consultation. It is carried out with the patient and, if desired, with his family. The reception is led by a psychotherapist who assists the patient from the first meeting until the end of the course of therapy. At the stages of treatment, the tasks of the causes of mental dependence, depression, return to a sober life, and consolidation of the result are posed and solved.
The next stage is a comprehensive examination of the state of the body. The patient undergoes tests, tests for alcohol. Ultrasound examinations, ECG examinations, examinations by a therapist and other specialists are performed as needed. The presence of concomitant diseases is revealed. Only after that a detailed plan for the treatment of alcoholism and rehabilitation of the patient is left.

A further step in the treatment of alcoholism is the mandatory detoxification in a hospital setting. The optimal method is chosen depending on the active toxic substance.

The main treatment is carried out in the form of complex therapy and includes: infusion and pharmacological therapy, aversive therapy, psychotherapy, ibogaine therapy, and an implant.

It is worth noting that our clinic also conducts supportive therapy throughout the year (outpatient stage) in the form of consultations and observations, even after completely getting rid of alcoholism.

Disappointing statistics of Ukraine

According to statistics, 87% of Ukrainians consume alcohol with varying degrees of frequency. According to the WHO, about 15 liters of pure alcohol are consumed per year for every Ukrainian, which potentially threatens degradation and extinction. About a quarter of a million people die from alcoholism and its consequences every year.

Ukraine has one of the highest rates of beer alcoholism. Cheapness, availability, advertising – provoke schoolchildren and adolescents to use. 80-85% of children 13-15 years old have tried alcohol. By the age of 15-19, about 45% are drinking alcohol all the time.
The consequences of female alcohol addiction are every second sick, non-socialized child with congenital and hereditary diseases.
One of the grave consequences of drinking alcohol is traffic accident statistics. Due to the fault of drunk drivers, more than 1200 accidents with fatalities and injuries in 2019.

We have an answer

The problem of drug addiction has dozens of causes and consequences. The task of our clinic is to find solutions as quickly, efficiently and in decent conditions as possible!

What is drug addiction?

Drug addiction is a serious illness, accompanied by a pathological craving for drug use and leading to partial or complete destruction of the patient’s organs and systems, leading to death.

Drug addict is a patient who needs qualified psychological, drug addiction and therapeutic assistance from doctors.

Causes and factors

External and internal factors can be the reasons for the emergence of addiction. Such as the:

  • Depression
  • Interest
  • Internal conflict
  • Suggestibility
  • Desire to get new sensations

How did it start

The first use does not make a person addicted. Almost 50% of people lose interest, but the second 50% continue and do it regularly. They are becoming drug addicts.

What does it lead to

There are 3 stages of drug addiction.

Stage 1: a conscious search for a “high”, the transition from lower doses to larger ones, and from less powerful drugs to stronger ones. Characteristic features: justification for taking drugs, planning for use in one’s “circle”, drugs are a communication tool.

Stage 2: physical dependence on drugs. Drugs do not give pleasant sensations, but are required for the normal state of the body. Characteristic features: loss of control of behavior, conflicts in the close and distant circle of communication, material difficulties and as a result – theft, theft, debts.

Stage 3: physiological changes – complete dependence on drugs with brain damage. The dose provides regulation in the brain of the perception of the surrounding world and chemical processes. Characteristic features: loss of social environment, development of chronic and concomitant diseases, constant need for drugs, personality degradation, loss of life goals with subsequent suicide.

Drug addiction treatment can be started at any of these stages, but the earlier, the easier it is to achieve the result.

When do you need help?

Signs and general characteristics of symptoms of drug use:

  • Changes in behavior (aggression, excessive agitation, drowsiness, apathy);
  • Changes in physical condition (dilated pupils, retarded movements, thinness, injection marks, unhealthy complexion, hallucinations, disorientation);
  • Concomitant diseases (AIDS, hepatitis B and C, infectious and venereal diseases);
  • Social changes (isolation, loss of job / school, family, friends);
  • Changes of a criminal nature (criminal actions against others).

It should be noted that the symptomatology also depends on the type of drug and its origin. The task of relatives is to pay attention to these symptoms and urgently seek help from specialists.

The trouble at the state level

According to statistics for 2019, about a million drug addicts were recorded in Ukraine. Among them, almost 400,000 are injecting drugs. A report by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) indicates that 18% of adolescents in Ukraine have tried drugs (of which: 8.7% – marijuana, 9.2% – inhalers, 14.2% have tried 2 or more drugs). Moreover, the percentage of use by girls has increased 1.5 times over the past five years and amounted to 18.1%.

In Kiev and other large cities of Ukraine, over the past six months, the so-called online sales of drugs have increased by 40%. Thanks to various messengers and websites, the purchase became anonymous, and the payment became contactless. Analyzing the above, we consider an important advantage of our clinic to be its location and the compulsory treatment of drug addiction in a hospital.

How to motivate?

Pay attention! The solution to the problem of effective drug addiction treatment begins with motivation. This difficult task is solved in several stages by our narcologists-psychotherapists. From arguments to the need for a cure. Psychological consultation can be provided to the closest circle of the patient.

We have a solution!

Clinic “MedicoMente” draws up a drug addiction treatment program individually. Patient therapy is carried out only in stationary conditions, which guarantees control of recovery.

The stages of therapy include:

  • Motivation
  • Detoxification
  • Psychotherapy
  • Aversive therapy
  • Ibogaine therapy
  • Additional therapy (optional)
  • Implant (optional)

The following factors influence the preparation of a complex therapy plan: gender, age, general health, social environment, psychotype, character traits of the patient.

Why us?

The specialists of our center accompany the patient, ranging from emergency detoxification in a hospital setting to sustainable results leading to the victory over drugs.

We use our own licensed original methods, international protocols and an individual approach.

Often, patients are faced with the problems of outpatient, drug treatment of drug addiction or transfer to other types of addictions. Removal of withdrawal drugs does not lead to recovery, but only aggravates the condition of the drug addicted patient.

Our clinic will save you from such problems, because drug addiction treatment is carried out in a hospital and only comprehensively. Conditions – the most comfortable (hotel level 4 + *).

The cost of services is calculated for each patient individually according to the clinic’s price list, treatment program and condition upon admission.

What is Ultrafast Opioid Detoxification (UFOD, Turbo Detox)?

Ultrafast opioid detoxification (UFOD) is the most effective, quick and painless technique aimed at removal acute and chronic intoxication of opium with substances and drugs. UROD is an effective way to overcome physical dependence on opiates, the peak of abstinence symptoms is a withdrawal that takes place under general anesthesia, reducing the detoxification process from 10-15 days to 8-12 hours.

The technique has been actively used in narcology, toxicology and intensive care since the middle of the 20th century. It is the procedure of choice for detoxification of patients who are on a systemic reception of narcotic analgesics of the opioid series, people who have made a difficult decision to leave a heavy habit in the past, to be off drugs. It has direct indications for emergency care, relief of life-threatening symptoms against an overdose of opium-containing drugs or their synthetic analogues.

UFOD process (turbo detox) at the MedicoMente clinic

Carrying out ultrafast detoxification according to the unique protocol of our clinic, shows high efficiency, quick and comfortable solution to problems of physical dependence and complete detoxification of the body from various types of opium containing substances and medications: natural, natural opiates like Raw Opium, Morphine, “Shirka”; semi-synthetic like Heroin, Morphine, Dehydrocodeine; synthetic ones like Promidol, Omnopon, Fentanyl, Oxycodone; as well as substances similar in their effect on the body: synthetic analogues like drugs of substitution therapy (ST): Methadone, LAAM; opioid receptor antagonist agonists (partial agonists) like Buprenorphine, Suboxone, Nalbuphine. As for the last, before the applying of ultrafast detoxification in the clinic, the patient is recommended to undergo special training, an out-patient basis or in a comfortable hospital.

The safety of carrying out UROD is directly depend on the qualifications of the medical staff, equipping the clinic with specialized medical equipment, the availability of necessary medical supplies and of course the most important thing is the preliminary examination and diagnosis of the patient. Before the procedure each patient is obligatory: undergoes consultation and examination by an anesthetist, a complete diagnosis of organs and systems, assessment of the results of general and biochemical blood counts, ECG, determination of the type and dose of the used substance, 24-hour monitoring of the patient’s physical condition before the procedure.

Contraindications UFOD (turbo-detox)

UROD like any medical intervention has a number of contraindications for carrying out: sharpening of chronic diseases; acute circulatory disorders (strokes, heart attacks, thrombosis); acute injuries and bleeding; severe lungs, liver, and kidneys damage; it is strictly contraindicated for pregnant and lactating women.

Subject to all the above rules and the exclusion of contraindications, the procedure is completely safe for the human body. It is carried out exclusively in the conditions of a specialized intensive care unit, the patient is immersed in a state of deep medical sleep “Anesthesia”, in compliance with all norms and rules of maintaining extended anesthesia. Throughout the time, the anesthetist-resuscitator monitors the patient’s condition: medications are introduced to stabilize the somatic state, water-salt balance, hormonal and neurometabolic balance; the procedure is accompanied by auxiliary ventilation of lungs, protection of respiratory track and respiratory system; if necessary, the degree of anesthesia is deepened to overcome unpleasant sensations and maximize patient comfort at its completion; hardware monitoring is carried out: electrocardiogram, electroencephalogram, control of pulse, blood pressure, body temperature, injected and withdrawn fluids.

The portioned introduction of a full agonist of opioid receptors Naloxone is directed: to destroy the stable connection of opiodic receptors with an opiate; releases and removes the bound compound from the cells and tissues of the body. The use of an extended form Naltrexone (Antaxone): blocks the receptor for opiates, as a result of opium containing substances are not able to affect the body, thereby not causing a narcotic, intoxicating effect, suppresses craving and desire for a drug.

At the end of the procedure, the patient has an excellent condition, vitality is restored, pain symptoms are absent, appetite is restored, sleep is normalized, mood is increased.

What is ibogaine therapy?

Any addiction, whether drug, alcohol, or gambling is primarily a mental addiction. Getting rid of it is not so easy. A person develops a dependent behavior model and stable reflexes. The usual techniques and long classes on psychocorrection do not always give the desired result.

Ibogaine therapy refers to alternative methods of treating various addictions. A short-term course can fundamentally change a person’s consciousness, help to consciously understand internal problems, leave behind alcohol and drug addictions, and gambling. While ibogaine itself has no addicting effect.

About ibogaine

Ibogaine is a natural psychoactive substance (iboga root extract), which for many centuries has been used for medicinal and ritual purposes in West Africa.

The substance in small doses acts as a stimulant – removes fatigue, enhances energy. If the dosage is higher, a person gets an effect that resembles a dream during wakefulness – he sees vivid dreams and memories previously supplanted by the subconscious.

Research

At a scientific level, the effect of this substance began to be investigated in the 60s of the last century. In the course of the research, it was found that ibogaine assists in the objective perception of difficult experiences and helps to close emotionally unresolved conflicts. The discovery of the effect of getting rid of craving for psychotropic drugs without withdrawal syndrome was accidental. This happened in 1962.

NIDA (the US National Institute on Drug Abuse) began developing ibogaine in the early 1990s. It fully financed preclinical trials of the drug in animals and, after proven safety, the clinical trials in humans conducted at the University of Miami. The obtained results proved that ibogaine suppresses the brain’s need for opiates, stimulants, and alcohol, significantly reduces the withdrawal symptoms in opiate addiction. It was reported that the drug does not have a neurotoxic effect, it effectively reduces tolerance to alcohol and opiates (receptor sensitivity returns to its initial state).

Ibogaine efficacy

MAPS (Multidisciplinary Association of Psychedelic Research) has conducted studies that have shown the efficacy of ibogaine therapy. According to the results, 80-85% of patients for at least a year after the procedure did not continue to take psychotropic drugs.

A number of studies have also been conducted in Brazil. In addition to the fact that the amount of toxic substances and negative consequences associated with the use of narcotic substances is reduced, the general condition, social and financial state of patients and their relations with loved ones have improved.

After detoxification with the use of ibogaine, absolute abstinence from taking psychotropic substances is observed much more often than in other traditional treatment protocols.

Ibogaine safety

The main safety condition is constant medical supervision throughout the entire course of treatment, a comprehensive examination of the patient, which is carried out in the MedicoMente medical center.

Contraindications:

  • cardiomyopathy;
  • congenital heart defects;
  • arrhythmia;
  • heart failure;
  • thromboses;
  • anemia;
  • strokes and other vascular pathologies;
  • severe mental disorders.

A prerequisite is comprehensive preliminary detoxification, necessary to prevent serious consequences with the combined effects of drugs, alcohol, and ibogaine on the body. Especially if psychostimulants and/or opiates were taken for a long time.

It is important to understand that self-treatment with ibogaine is dangerous and strongly not recommended. The expected result without any harm is only possible by taking the drug under medical supervision in a medical center, using unrefined plant raw materials.

What is plasmapheresis?

Over the course of our lives, many toxins, metabolites, allergens, lipids and cholesterol, salts of heavy metals, and the remains of medicines accumulate in our body. Normally, their excretion is associated with the filtration functions of the body, which performs natural filters – the liver and kidneys. But, over time, after a number of diseases, under the influence of allergens, due to the lifestyle, the intake of various substances and alcohol, many substances accumulate in the body that poison it and disrupt the normal functioning of the body. Our biological filters are no longer able to fully cope with their function, as a result: the general condition worsens, the functioning of organs and systems is impaired, chronic diseases are aggravated, allergic reactions are aggravated, and immunity is impaired.

For effective “body cleansing”extracorporeal methods are actively used today: plasmapheresis, hemadsorption, hemodialysis. The essence of these methods is microfiltration and partial removal of plasma containing toxins, metabolites, allergens, excess salts and lipids, and the remains of medical and narcotic substances. At the same time, blood cells and purified plasma are returned back, and its removed fraction is filled up with “artificial plasma” plasma-substituting solutions. Depending on the method of plasma isolation, they emit: hardware (membrane) and centrifugal (sedimentation) plasmapheresis.

How is plasmapheresis carried out?

In our clinic, we use an extremely high-performance modern technique of hardware-membrane blood purification on the “Hemofenix” apparatus using original disposable systems and filters, plasma-replacing ACD-A concentrate, “macopharma” (France). To achieve the maximum process of plasma purification and activation of blood cells, in parallel, intravenous laser and ultraviolet irradiation-activation of blood cells is used through the fiber-optic LED of the “Lazmik-VLOK” apparatus. The whole procedure is carried out through one peripheral intravenous catheter, its duration is 1.5-2 hours, while it is completely safe, painless and performed automatically, under the supervision of an anesthetist.

After a comfortable and painless detoxification process from opiates, psychostimulants, alcohol and medications, we recommend that patients undergo a course of additional blood purification at the molecular level. Plasmapheresis allows you to cleanse the body as much as possible not only from narcotic substances and alcohol, but also from residual toxins and metabolites, harmful proteins and lipids, antigens and antibodies, hormones and immune complexes. This technique will allow you to quickly and comfortably accelerate the recovery process of your body and its physiological functions, immune balance and homeostasis, improve the general condition.

Indications and contraindications

To date, in medical practice, indications for plasmapheresis are very broad and are used for more than 200 diseases and a number of impaired functions and processes in the body, such as:

  • a variety of autoimmune and inflammatory diseases;
  • consequences of viral and infectious lesions;
  • atherosclerotic and rheumatoid disorders;
  • various allergic conditions and intoxications;
  • violation of the function of the heart, liver, kidneys, pancreas, thyroid gland and adrenal function;
  • bronchial asthma, dermatitis, arthritis, vasculitis, herpetic infection;
  • multiple sclerosis, encephalopathy, diabetes and other chronic diseases;
  • poisoning with ethyl alcohol, a hangover, drug addiction, substance abuse.

Contraindications for extracorporeal blood purification methods:

  • acute lesions of the brain and heart;
  • increased bleeding and heavy bleeding;
  • uncompensated arrhythmias and low protein content in blood plasma;
  • acute infectious diseases.

Before prescribing and conducting the “Plasmapheresis” procedure, we will certainly collect an anamnesis of life and diseases, conduct an examination, evaluate the results of laboratory tests and additional examinations (ECG, ultrasound scan, X-ray, etc.), if necessary.

If you have additional questions about this procedure, contact the clinic specialists for qualified advice.

Regards, The MedicoMente Clinic Team.
